A Baby Shower

After I found out I was pregnant a friend back home asked me, "What are you going to do about a baby shower?"
"I don't know."  I replied.

Being so far from home and knowing we'd only be home once, at Christmas, before my due date I wasn't sure if I'd have a shower.  Even though I was only 20 weeks, my mom and sisters planned me one anyways.  At first, it seemed a bit early to have a shower but now I'm glad we did it!

After we returned back to Mississippi, a friend here asked me if she could plan a shower for me with my friends here.  I was so happy, excited, and grateful to have such kind friends.  We planned a day and I gave her a list of guests and everything was set.

But Gray had other plans.

After he was born, and after I came home from the hospital she asked me if I'd like to move the shower up.  It would be something for me to look forward to and enjoy and a time to celebrate the fact that I just had a baby.  No matter how early, how small, how sick, how far away, or how long he'd be gone we still needed to celebrate.

I am so grateful and happy my friends did this for me.  They brought the party to my house.  I didn't have to do anything.  Shedrick helped me get ready and they all came.  Came with food and treats.  Drinks and gifts.  And most of all love, kindness, caring, compassion, listening ears, smiles and laughter.

These ladies are like my family down here away from home and I love them all.
